Poeticus – Jo Holland

Who are you?

I am an artist currently based in London.

What do you do?
Inspired by the patterns in nature, eight-petal lotus symbolism and Islamic symmetrical geometry, I create an analogue photograph from flowers, colour and light via my unique photographic darkroom process. The original photograph is then digitized and reflected to create composite meditative mandalas for contemplation and meditation.

Why do you do it?
I love it.

What does music mean to you?
I once read music is the highest form of art … I agree.

How does this relate to movement?
Music stirs up feelings which trigger movement and a freedom of spirit

Can you describe how your pieces are influenced and reflect musical themes?
The suggestion of movement within the works

How can music help us to know ourselves better?
Tuning in and tuning out, connecting within and without, expressive, creative, playful

Is there anything else you would like to say on the topic?
I hope you enjoy the work and thank you, Matt.
