Stephen Cohen – 3 Hand Stephen

I am performing, recording and visual artist Stephen Cohen, also known by my performing name, 3 Hand Stephen. I live in Oregon.

The theme Music & Movement interests me because I have been involved in creating music and art all my life, and I see how music chronicles change, how music is change, and how my music and life change and move together. I believe, as a musician and visual artist, that “Music is Art, Art is Music”.

Who are you?

I am Stephen Cohen, also known as 3 Hand Stephen. I am one of many human beings here on this planet Earth.

What do you do?

I create music and art. I try to live as best as I can and love the people around me.

Why do you do it?

I am driven and inspired to do it because it gives meaning and purpose to my daily life.

What does music mean to you?

Music is feeling, music is thought, music chronicles our existence.

How does this relate to movement?

As there is movement, in waves and particles, throughout the universe, there is movement in music as it moves through time and space.

What is happening internally when you write and play music?

I am grounded and aware of my surroundings as I write and play music, and I feel the words, images and sounds bring thoughts and feelings of the past, present and future.

How can music help us to know ourselves better?

Music opens up our thoughts and feelings and gives us context to understand ourselves better.

Is there anything else you would like to say on the topic?

Music moves with us as we move along in our lives.
