Steve Wheeler – Hold On To The Horizon
Who are you?
I am an artist and writer
What are you doing?
Writing the synopsis for a novel called The Lucky Poo Saloon, that I have just finished.
Where can we find you?
Walking somewhere on the Kent coastline.
Why do you do what you do?
Because life is a difficult thing.
How does your work relate to the theme “The Great Outdoors”?
“Hold On To The Horizon” is a short film loop that was shown as part of the Whitstable Biennale.
As the title of the piece suggests, hold on to the horizon, is an aspiration. Take a single hair from your head and try to align it with the horizon; as a process, it makes you very aware of your limitations in the face of nature and your relationship to the planet you are standing on.
What your favourite thing about nature / The Great Outdoors?
Space and the order beneath what appears to be chaos.
What attracted you to submit to Wake up Screaming?
The theme and the eclectic nature of the project.
Is there anything else you want to add?
Two and two.
